SECOND SUNDAY, SECOND EDITION
Thanks for sticking around.
If you missed last week's intro, here's the quick version: Hello and welcome to The Wrangler Wire! This is where I recap the week, spotlight local partners, and skip the corporate fluff. Let's get into it.
☕️ Live From Cafe Capriccio (Change of Plans)
Change of scenery today! The General's closed for the day, recovering from yesterday's Art Beat festival. I've got errands to run on this side of town anyway, so Cafe Capriccio it is, and honestly, that's part of what I like about this newsletter: it doesn't have to be the same spot every Sunday to feel like home.
There's something genuinely nice about a town where you can wander to a different corner and still feel settled in, and where a whole festival can shut down a favorite spot for a day and everyone just rolls with it.
Here's a look at what's been happening around our community this week, and what's still ahead today.
👀 What's Happening Around Town?
Discount codes and sales are apparently the theme of the week. Big news from Alchemy Healing Arts: they now have a dedicated SALE category in their online shop, making it much easier to browse discounted crystals, journals, wellness tools, and more without digging through the full catalog. A small change, but a genuinely useful one if you're a frequent browser, and a nice way to make a beloved local shop even more accessible to the people who love it.
And if you're reading this today, good news, you're just in time: Sound Bath with Sky Apothecary: A Journey of Deep Rest and Resonance with Alchemy Healing Arts is happening this afternoon, a chance to gather with your neighbors, fully unplug, and let the sound do the work. (Subscribers got a 10% off code for themselves and a friend.)
🤠 Wrangling in the Wild
This week's Sunchoke Bakery haul deserves its own paragraph: the jalapeño cheddar boule (I'm obsessed, no notes) and a new mocha chocolate chip scone that might be a semi-permanent addition to my Saturday routine. If you haven't grabbed one yet, get there early next weekend!
Before my Saturday shift at Alchemy Healing Arts, I made my usual stop at Counterspell Cafe for another iced surprise and a bomb-ass breakfast sandwich, because of course. It's become a bit of a ritual at this point, and honestly, part of what I love about working in this community is getting to build those little routines with the businesses in it.
Once at the shop, I clocked in for another retail shift, and over at Root + River Refillery, this week was a big one: we sent out their first-ever monthly newsletter yesterday, complete with two discount codes just for subscribers and the debut of their new Tomato Vine Natural Soap bar in the online shop.
A good discount code is a small thing that does a lot of work. It rewards the people who actually pay attention, gives them a reason to open the next email, and turns "maybe I'll stop by sometime" into "I have a reason to stop by this week." A new product launch works the same way: it gives people something fresh to come back for.
Alongside that, I kept wrangling their online listings and inventory, building out the backend so their site actually reflects what's on the shelves, and cleaning up product organization so shopping online feels as easy as shopping in-store.
📝 The Un-Sexy Stuff That Actually Works
A discount code sounds like a marketing afterthought. It isn't. A bring-a-friend code or a subscriber-only offer does real work behind the scenes. It tracks what's actually driving traffic, rewards the people paying attention, and gives you a clean way to measure whether a newsletter, a sale, or a launch is actually landing.
The same goes for pairing a new product launch with that first newsletter send: putting the Tomato Vine Natural Soap debut in front of subscribers right alongside a discount code means you can actually see whether people are showing up because of the email, not just guessing.
And a dedicated SALE category works the same way. It's not just tidier, it's data you can act on. Good systems don't just make things easier for customers, they make it easier for a business to know what's working.

Wondering whether a discount code, a subscriber perk, or a cleaner way to launch a new product could do something similar for your business? Send me a note at Carrington@thewileyhaase.com and let's talk through it.
👋 Until Next Sunday
That's Edition 02 of The Wrangler Wire, in the books. Swing by the sound bath if you can, grab a bar of that new Tomato Vine soap while you're thinking about it, browse the Sale section of Alchemy Healing Arts, and take a minute to appreciate the little community we've got here. See you back here next Sunday.
