NEW HERE?

Consider this your welcome mat.

Two editions in, and if you're just now joining us: welcome. Every Sunday, The Wrangler Wire rounds up what's been happening around town: where I've been, who I've been working with, and what's worth knowing at the local businesses I partner with. No corporate jargon, no sales pitch dressed up as a newsletter, just real updates and the occasional bomb-ass breakfast sandwich. If you've been here since Edition 01, feel free to skip ahead. The iced coffee's the same, and the mission hasn't changed.

☕️ Live From The General (Back to Usual)

Back at my usual perch this Sunday, and it feels so good to be here. I only went one week without the usual small cold brew and The Dante breakfast sandwich but I missed it immensely.

Quick confession: this week started out a little wonky, courtesy of a head-scratching QuickBooks mis-sync that took longer to untangle than I'd like to admit. But the rest of the week smoothed right out, and Saturday more than made up for it, which makes this booth feel extra grounding this morning.

Here's everything that happened this week and what's ahead:

👀 What's Happening Around Town?

As August winds down, there's no better way to close out the month than with a little peace and quiet. Sky Apothecary's Sound Bath: A Journey of Deep Rest and Resonance is happening this Friday, August 28th, and it's the perfect reset before we transition into fall. If last time's turnout was any indication, this one will fill up fast, so grab a spot now and end the month on the calmest note possible.

🤠 Wrangling in the Wild

Saturday morning started with my usual run to Sunchoke Farms' booth at the South Bend Farmer's Market. This week I grabbed the cinnamon raisin granola and the jalapeño cheddar boule I've clearly become addicted to. Sad news, there's only one week left for the seasonal jalapeño flavor. I already miss it and it's not even gone yet.

From there, the usual iced surprise and a bomb-ass breakfast sandwich from Counterspell, then I checked in for my retail shift at Alchemy Healing Arts, where they've added even more new wish paper items and exercise cards to both the physical shop and the online store.

Saturday also happened to be Teacher Appreciation Day in the Near Northwest Neighborhood, and the teachers showed up. Alchemy Healing Arts saw a great turnout, and Sky Apothecary and Root + River Refillery were slammed all day! It was great to see the entire neighborhood show up for the people who show up for our kids every day.

Saturday afternoon, I squeezed in The Herbal Bitch Society's Intro to Botanical Perfumes class, and it was wonderful. I learned A TON, and the perfume I made and brought home smells amazing. It was an unexpected but very welcome way to close out the day.

If that sounds like your kind of afternoon, good news: The Herbal Bitch Society is following it up with Botanical Perfumes 102: The Emotion of Scent this fall, on September 19th. And no, you don't need to have taken 101 first. This deep-dive session stands entirely on its own.

📝 The Un-Sexy Stuff That Actually Works

A QuickBooks mis-sync ate a chunk of my Tuesday this week but it was a good reminder of why clean systems matter. When your books, bookings, and inventory are actually talking to each other, the day runs smooth. When they're not, one small error turns into an evening-long scavenger hunt.

Nobody notices systems when they're working. They only show up when something's off. That's the unglamorous truth behind this work: it's invisible when it's right, impossible to ignore when it's wrong.

The timing feels right, too. We've still got a week of August left, but you can feel the wind-down starting. School's back, harvest's on the horizon, and routines everywhere are quietly resetting. That's exactly when clean systems earn their keep. So here's to fewer mysteries and smoother mornings as we ease into the next season.

🐴 Ride With Us

Dealing with your own version of a "wait, why doesn't this match up" moment in your systems? Send me a note at Carrington@thewileyhaase.com. I promise it's more common than you think, and usually faster to fix than it feels.

👋 Until Next Sunday

That's Edition 03 of The Wrangler Wire, in the books. Go grab that jalapeño cheddar boule before the season's up, save your spot for the sound bath, and if you see a teacher this week, tell them thanks. See you back here next Sunday.

Carrington Haase

I'm an operations consultant and website designer based in South Bend, Indiana — and I built The Wiley Haase because small businesses deserve Fortune 500 systems without the Fortune 500 price tag or the corporate bloat that comes with it.

I team up with founders who are tired of putting out the same fires every week. If you’re ready to trade in your Facebook page and a prayer for a real online presence, you’re in the right place. I’ll help you corral your workflows, streamline your operations, and build a website you’ll actually want to show off. First, I figure out what’s broken. Then, I roll up my sleeves and fix it—no copy-paste solutions, just what fits your business.

No fluff. No disappearing after the report. Just systems that scale and sites that work.
