☕️ Coffee, Chaos, and the First Wrangler Wire
Edition 01 - Originally sent Sunday, August 9, 2026
Dates, events, and offers below were current that week.
What Even Is This?
Starting this week, every Sunday you'll get a short note from me...
Usually written live, coffee or breakfast in hand, wherever I happen to be that morning. Think of it less as a traditional business newsletter and more like a weekly check-in from someone who's out in the community, actually doing the work.
Here's the deal: each edition will cover three things. First, a quick look at what I've been up to that week, since a lot of my work happens on-site with local businesses, wrangling their operations, websites, and marketing, not from behind a desk somewhere.
Second, a spotlight on whatever local spot or business I've been working with that week, because part of what makes The Wiley Haase work is genuinely showing up in this community, not just talking about it.
And third, an exclusive roundup of what's happening at the local businesses I'm currently partnering with.
No corporate jargon, no vague inspiration quotes, no sales pitch dressed up as a newsletter. Just real updates, real businesses, and the occasional bomb-ass breakfast sandwich mentioned along the way. If that sounds like your kind of Sunday read, welcome aboard.
☕️ Live From The General
I'm writing this from The General Deli & Cafe, breakfast in front of me, doing my usual Sunday laptop time. It's the same as nearly every week, except the odd weekend I'm off having fun somewhere. No regrets. Here's a quick look into what's happening around town and a look back at the week that was.
👀 What's Happening Around Town?
This week, Alchemy Healing Arts just added nearly 25 new products to their physical retail space and online shop, from wish paper ritual kits to crystal bracelets, palm stones, and hand-bound leather journals. They're well worth a browse if you're gift shopping or just want something small for yourself.
They also built out their classes and workshops calendar all the way through November, so there's a lot of fun and exciting happenings to plan around this fall.
One event to circle now: Sound Bath with Sky Apothecary: A Journey of Deep Rest and Resonance with Alchemy Healing Arts on August 16th. Grab a spot before it fills!
🤠 Wrangling in the Wild
Saturday started early at the South Bend Farmer's Market, specifically at the Sunchoke Farms booth, which is worth setting an alarm for before they sell out. This week's Sunchoke Bakery haul: blueberry walnut granola, a chocolate chunk cookie, an oatmeal raisin cookie, and a cheddar jalapeño boule. Yum doesn't begin to cover it.
On my way to Root + River Refillery Saturday, I swung by Counterspell Cafe for an iced surprise and what I can only describe as a bomb-ass breakfast sandwich, which fully set the tone for a productive shift. Once there, I spent the day starting to wrangle their inventory system and building out their subscriber newsletter and discount codes, alongside tidying up their website listings and SEO.
One small operational truth worth sharing: a clean, easy-to-understand product listing makes it so much easier for new customers to grasp pricing and product flow at a glance, and that clarity pays off fast. If you haven't been in yet, it's worth a visit, and worth checking their site for updates coming soon.
📝 The Un-Sexy Stuff That Actually Works
This is exactly the kind of week that shows what operations, web, and marketing work actually looks like in practice: an inventory system taking shape at Root + River, a shop calendar built out months in advance at Alchemy Healing Arts, and product listings getting cleaned up for search. None of it's flashy, but it's the difference between a business that runs on memory and one that runs on systems.
🐴 Ride With Us
Curious what a quick systems or website audit would surface for your own business? Send me a note at Carrington@thewileyhaase.com and I'll tell you what I'd look at first.
👋 Until Next Sunday
That's a wrap on the first edition of The Wrangler Wire. Thanks for being here for it. Genuinely. Whether you're a client, a neighbor, or just someone who likes knowing what's brewing (and baking, and blending) around town, I'm glad you're along for the ride.
I'll be back next Sunday with another round of local spotlights, behind-the-scenes wrangling, and whatever's happening at the businesses I'm currently partnering with. Until then, go support a small business, grab a good pastry, and I'll see you back here next week.
